Pre-Episode: Pre-hire paperwork

Storyline

Four students—Melisa Zhou, Jaden Wang, Mei Li, and Diego Zhang—have all received acceptance letters via email for a cybersecurity internship at an international company SkyNet Technology in Hong Kong. The internship program director, Ms. Lily Zhao, asks them to complete some preparatory paperwork. One of the required tasks is to familiarize themselves with computer and cybersecurity-related vocabulary before starting their internship.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize and differentiate Chinese initials, finals, and tones in the Mandarin pronunciation system.
  2. Accurately produce Mandarin syllables and tonal variations to improve pronunciation clarity.
  3. Apply pinyin rules and correct tones to effectively pronounce cybersecurity-related vocabulary.
