Storyline

With the design finalized, the team discusses how to divide the work. Zhang Di points out the need to understand user interests, and Zhou Meng reminds them that employees are located worldwide. Wang Jiedan suggests creating an online survey.

The team agrees. Zhang Di and Wang Jiedan will write the survey questions, while Zhou Meng and Li Mei will design the website and coordinate survey distribution with global offices. With their tasks set, they are ready to move forward.

王杰丹: 我们每个人应该做什么?
张笛: 为了提供好的用户体验, 我们应该了解我们的用户需要什么。
周萌: 对,对,我们公司的员工在世界不同的地方,他们会有不同的需要。
李梅: 那我们怎么能知道他们的需要呢?
王杰丹: 我有一个办法,我们可以做一个网上问卷,了解一下世界各地的员工们他们想知道网络安全的什么信息。
李梅: 这个办法好。那我们分一下任务吧。
张笛: 我和王杰丹可以设计关于电脑和网络安全的问题,周萌和李梅做我们的网页,怎么样?

Reading Exercise

Sentence Structure

  1. 为了 (wèi le)

Meaning:
Means “in order to…” or “for the sake of…” Used to express purpose or goal.

✅ Examples:

为了提供好的用户体验,我们应该了解我们的用户需要什么。
(Wèile tígōng hǎo de yònghù tǐyàn, wǒmen yīnggāi liǎojiě wǒmen de yònghù xūyào shénme.)
In order to provide a good user experience, we should understand what our users need.

他们打电话给办公室,是为了让员工收到我们的问卷。
(Tāmen dǎ diànhuà gěi bàngōngshì, shì wèile ràng yuángōng shōudào wǒmen de wènjuàn.)
They’re calling the offices in order to make sure the employees receive our survey.

🔹 Structure: 为了 + [Purpose/Goal], + [Action]

Key Note:

  • 为了 = for the purpose of (goal)
  • 因为 = because of (reason/cause)

 

Example comparison:

  • 为了了解员工的需要,我们设计了问卷。 (To understand employees’ needs, we designed a questionnaire.)
  • 我们设计问卷,是因为不知道他们需要什么。 (We designed the questionnaire because we didn’t know what they needed.)
  1. 看看 (kàn kan)

Meaning:
“Have a look” / “Take a look” / “Check it out”
A casual or polite way of saying look at something.

✅ Examples:

你们可以看看这个问卷,觉得有没有要改的地方。
(Nǐmen kěyǐ kànkan zhège wènjuàn, juéde yǒu méiyǒu yào gǎi de dìfāng.)
You can take a look at the questionnaire and see if there’s anything that needs to be changed.

我们做完网页以后,让张笛看看效果怎么样。
(Wǒmen zuò wán wǎngyè yǐhòu, ràng Zhāng Dí kànkan xiàoguǒ zěnme yàng.)
After we finish the website, let Zhang Di take a look and see how it turned out.

🔹 Structure: [Subject] + 看看 + [Object]

Tip:
“看看” is often used with soft verbs like “想” or “可以”
Examples: 想看看 (want to take a look), 可以看看 (can have a look)

✅ Examples:

  1. 你们可以先看看我们写的问题有没有问题。

(Nǐmen kěyǐ xiān kànkan wǒmen xiě de wèntí yǒu méiyǒu wèntí.)
→ You can first take a look at the questions we wrote to see if there are any issues.

  1. 我们发问卷之前,最好请老师看看内容对不对。

(Wǒmen fā wènjuàn zhīqián, zuìhǎo qǐng lǎoshī kànkan nèiróng duì bù duì.)
→ Before we send out the questionnaire, it’s best to have the teacher check whether the content is correct.

  1. 我想看看公司的网站是怎么介绍网络安全的。

(Wǒ xiǎng kànkan gōngsī de wǎngzhàn shì zěnme jièshào wǎngluò ānquán de.)
→ I want to check how the company’s website introduces cybersecurity.

  1. 请你们看看这张图,颜色和排版可以吗?

(Qǐng nǐmen kànkan zhè zhāng tú, yánsè hé páibàn kěyǐ ma?)
→ Please take a look at this layout—are the colors and formatting okay?

  1. 我们打电话请他们的员工看看这个问卷,回答一下。

(Wǒmen dǎ diànhuà qǐng tāmen de yuángōng kànkan zhège wènjuàn, huídá yīxià.)
→ We’ll call and ask their employees to look at the questionnaire and fill it out.
